Painting to me is not about color or fancy techniques, but who I am " here to add your text.
" Where are you from? "

That is a question I have been asked a lot when people first meet me. The reason is because of my slight accent.  It comes from growing up in the small town in South America where I spent most of my childhood. I was born in Germany of Lithuanian parents and lived and worked as an illustrator and designer in Chicago, IL  makes for an interesting  background.

Deciding to work full time as a  painter had to be the best decision I have ever made.  I have been painting watercolors for over 35 years.  I have been traveling and teaching  workshops for over 20 years all over the USA and CANADA.

Today I live out in the country and have the best of both worlds.  It is quiet in the country with Donna and our dog Krissy.   We enjoy the lake and the  beautiful gardens.  Then being busy with hundreds of people while demonstrating for large groups of artists and going to the big cities and towns miles from home creates a balance in my life.

Painting in the studio, demonstrating, judging art shows, teaching workshops, photographing subject matters to paint and sometimes  practicing the art of living keeps a person like me very busy.

After years of painting and learning all the techniques and all of the elements that makes a painting work, I feel that as a creative person I will always keep on learning  and painting as long as these hands can mix a color on my old palette. Retirement is not in my book of life.
Telling stories and capturing a mood and feelings in a painting is to me what my paintings are all about.  A creative mind can do so much with so little.  I learned that living in a small town in South America.
